Will this help my hair grow longer?

*I have a perm*

This is what I do for my hair:

-I wrap it every night (I heard this prevents breakage)

-I put a silk scarf over it

-I go to the hair salon to get a wash %26amp; set every two weeks

-The only time heating utensiles are ever applied to my hair is when I get the wash %26amp; set (dryer, blow dryer, gold platted curling iron)

-I only use rollers in my hair, and not while I'm sleeping. I wake up an hour before I have to leave for school and put them in just so it curls under a little

-After I get my hair done, I only use a sheen spray and don't add anymore chemicals to it

I've been noticing that my hair has grown a little. Is this process helping my hair grow longer, or is it my imagination? If not, what else should I do?

I think you are doing a great job. The only thing I would say is ditch the gold plated curling irons and use a ceramic one like a Chi. The gold n hots are more prone to burn the hair shaft and that will take away from all the good work you have been doing. Sleeping with a scarf or bonnet is cool, but if you want your head to breath a little, you can invest in a satin pillow case.

Actually, nothing really MAKES your hair grow except stimulation of the scalp and nature. Your hair grows 1/2 inch a month so it could just be that. and wrapping it actually doesnt do anything to it. its actually BETTER for your hair ( depending on texture, ( thick, course, fine, medium) and density ( how much you have) if you sleep with NOTHING IN or ON your hair. as far as going to the salon for the wash and set, while the massage you get when getting the wash will help stimulate the blood flow to your scalp which CAN make your hair grow. And as far as the set? well, it depends on how the stylist does the set. Does she use a brush or a comb? whatever stimulation ( massage, brshing, combing, washing etc) you do to your scalp, it will make your blood flow circulate and come to the surface and make your hair grow. And as far as not putting anymore chemicals in it, thats good because if you had a relaxer ( which is what im thinking since someone who GETS and ACTUAL perm wouldnt have their hair SET in rollers since its normally already very curly from the perm itself) its VERY VERY fragile because the chemical used for the relaxer is VERY strong. I hope that helps.

no, your hair is probably just getting longer from normal growth. . . what makes your hair not grow is chemical processing and perms that cause breakage in your hair. Keep taking goood care of it and condition it often.

It seems like you are doing right by your hair! You may notice it getting health before it grows (I have natural hair, i thought I still my texturizer, comes to find out that is my actual hair getting healthier-lol) I dont really do much to may hair but I can provide you with some links for hair growth.

All I do to my hair is braid in in for sections every night. I wash it every 2wks, w/isoplus shampoo/conditioner and I dont ever grease my scalp...you're not supposed to. While my hair is wet, all I do is oil (using tea tree oil) from the root to the ends. I also trim my hair after this process...

It seem like a good regime but try and wash your hair with out using heat after because heat drys out your hair and dry hair breaks easier.

also moisturise your hair atleast a fews time a week with a watser based moisteriser not oil cause oil seels in moisturise.

try and switch the side you wrap your hair on cause you can get breakage on one side from always wrapping it that way.

also you don't need to go to the salon to wash your hair wash it at home and save money.

try and do a conditioner wash which is when you wash your hair with only conditioner and not shampoo and the reason is because non-moisturising shampoos clean your hair but dry it out and the conditioner keeps in the moisture and cleans it but not as well as the shampoo so use the shampoo once in a while.

wash your hair atleast once a week cause dirty hair grows slow and don't put anything thick or that has in mineral oil or petroleum cause it clogs your scalp and slow don't grow use light oils

like; castor oil, cocnut oil, carrot or alvo vera or hair

butters like shea butter.

keep your end protected and don't wear your hair down too much cause that cause friction which weakens, breaks and drys out your hair so try wearing a bun, french twist, cornrows and braids.

don't wear your hair tigth cause that breaks and weakens it.

also you don't need oil sheen and if you relax your hair don't do it any less than every 8 weeks. relaxers are strong and have made some people bald so doing it to freqently is bad and don't let it stay in more more than 30 minutes.

it is also important while going long period without relaxing our hair it is keep moisturised and you don't comb or manipulate to much and do a protien treatment every 6 weeks to give your hair strenght and stop breakage.

too much wrapping can break your hair so try putting your hair in plaits sometimes to give your hair a break from wrapping.

too much of anything is bad.

good luck growing

Will this help my hair grow longer?

Yes this will help. Because it is less stress on the hair, and helps with keeping the hair looking healthy. But please make sure you deep condition your hair also at least once a week. I mean sitting under the dryer 15-20 minutes with a really good conditioner. Ask your stylist what she/he might suggest. And don閳ユ獩 let anyone tell you any different. Wrapping the hair and not using heat very much is defiantly a good start. And one more little tidbit. You didn閳ユ獩 mention this and I don閳ユ獩 know if you do this or not but, PLEASE don閳ユ獩 put GREASE ON YOUR SCALP!!!!! It clogs your pores!!!! Slows growth. If you condition your hair and scalp well enough, then there is no need to oil your scalp. Unless you have a scalp condition.
