My sister has med/light brown hair and she used to put lemon juice in her hair before sunbathing to get highlights. Some people refer to modern chunks or streaks of bright blonde as "highlights", but the highlights that I'm talking about are exactly that - when you're in bright light you can see a tinge of blonde in it. That's about all you're going to get, so lemons won't make brown hair blonde. If you want blonde hair why don't you dye it?

In the 80's there was a product called Sun In with lemon, which was practically lemon juice in a bottle. You were supposed to spray it on and let the sun's heat naturally "lighten" your hair (or you could also use a blow dryer). A couple of girls in my school had straw like orange hair because they used the product. So if you are a brunette, and want to go blond, go to a professional. Lemon will lighten to orange and damage your hair.

I am also a light brunette but am a natural blonde, my hair just got darker over the years. last summer I tried lightening it with lemons and going out in the sun but it didn't work for me. If you don't mind roots, you could try Sun In with a hairdryer or chamomile tea.

Lemons don't dye your hair, they bleach it. You're supposed to put the juice in your hair where you want the highlights to be and sit in the sun, the juice will gradually lighten your hair, and it is permanent, until it grows out and gets snipped off or until you dye over it. I recommend professional color though. Lemon juice works best on blonder hair, as it will make Brown hair turn Orangey. And yes i have tried it, it looked terrible, i'm a brunette.

The chemical reaction between lemon juice and sunlight is what lightens your hair, so a blowdryer would not work. If you really want blonde hair, just go to a salon, since lemon juice will be very damaging and it will probably only give you highlights.

Also, do you have natural red highlights or natural blonde highlights? Take a look at the ends of your hair--they will probably be lighter than your roots because they have bleached by the sun over the years. If your hair is reddish at the ends, do NOT use lemon juice...it will make your hair a brassy orangish color.

Sun-in is also a bad idea because it coats your hair and if you ever dye or straighten or blow-dry it, it will fry.

Just go to a salon and get it bleached and dyed. It will be so much easier, and you can't go wrong.

DO NOT put lemon in your hair! It does make some hair healthier, but it also severely dries it, and ultimately may kill your hair's shine and growth. A blow dryer would not make a difference, if you really want to dye your hair blonde, I suggest you dye it with permenant dye.

I've used Sun In, which is mostly lemon juice.

I used to use it and then blow dry my hair.

I went from dark blonde to almost white!

My hair condition was OK, but eventually I went to dye my hair back to a darker color, and it was really uneven.

The Sun In doesn't leave an even color.

do u know why swimmers have bleached hair? do you know why blow-drying will lighten it?

it's called BLEACHING

lemon contains acid... and the sun will just bake it... soon ur hair will start cracking and falling...

just dye ur hair... if u cant, then dont do it.
