Omg help my hair is falling out!?

kay like, i have natural non-permed african hair which i wash and condition twice a week. then i dry it with a towel till it's damp, then put heat protectant all over it, then blow dry it on high, my blow dryer has a comb attachment so it gets kinda straight. THEN i straighten it piece by piece starting from the back using my solia flat iron, at the highest temp (450 degrees) to get it extra straight. i know i know, the problem is probably all the heat. but i don't feel like i can get it straight enough if i don't use all that heat! and i've been brushing it and like 15 hairs will have come out by the time im finished brushing my whole head! what should i doooo.

People tend to lose about 50-100 hairs a day... if your ends aren't split and dried out you are probally ok... but you should lay off the heat a little, you don't need to blow dry then flat iron... let it dry naturally ... and you don't need the highest heat setting...your hair will be straight enough. Condition it often, in fact more often than shampooing (its called a co-wash... blackhairmedia.com)

Okay,if you feel that your flat iron is not strong enough, maybe you should get a new one that will work good without putting it to 450 degrees. What type of flat iron do you have anyway?

I use CHI for my hair. But 450 is too high..that's the temperature used for baking food =O...so you can really fry your hair out.

First your washing and conditioning your too much. African Americans only suppose to wash their hair every 10-12 days. The reason why shampoos dries out our hair, and we loose the natural oils. Then you are using a heated hair appliance. They also dries out the hair. Then your brushing your hair. brushes stretches the hair causing it to snap off.

Start adding more moistur to your hair. Use Luster's Pink Oil Moisturizing Lotion while using the hair dryer.
